Co-Chairs Schrader and Nolan take Ways and Means Committee on road to Bend, with video connection from Pendleton, The Dalles and Ontario

SALEM – The Co-Chairs of the Oregon State Senate and House Joint Ways and Means Committee, Senator Kurt Schrader (D- Canby) and Representative Mary Nolan (D- Portland), are taking the committee to Bend to hear testimony on the state budget.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., April 12, in Cascade Hall Room 107 on the OSU-Cascades Campus at 2600 NW College Way.

The committee will also take testimony from Oregonians in The Dalles, Pendleton and Ontario through video conferencing. The event will be simulcast to those three cities and members of the public will be able to address the committee as they would had they attended the hearing at any other location. The video connections in The Dalles and Pendleton will begin at 6:30 p.m., while the connection in Ontario will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday night’s meeting is part of a seven-city tour that began last week in Oregon City on Wednesday.  The tour continued with meetings in Portland on Thursday, Corvallis on Tuesday, and Eugene today. The tour will continue in Medford on Friday April 13th, and will conclude in Coos Bay/North Bend on Saturday April 14th.

Signup sheets for testifying before the committee will be available no earlier than 5:15 p.m. The Co-Chairs will invite community members to testify in groups of four, largely based on a first-come-first-served basis. Each person will be limited to two minutes.

The meeting will begin with a brief presentation by the committee on their proposed budget. The committee will then open the floor to public testimony.
