Portland-based acoustic jazz guitar soloist Eric Skye will delight crowds in Bend when he performs at the Bebop Coffeehouse in Bend later this month.
Skye, hailed a "guitar Maestro with a gift for working a wide range of expression from steel strings” by the Oregonian, and “one of the best rising stars of the American acoustic jazz scene” by 20th Century Guitar Magazine, will play on Sunday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to noon. The coffeehouse is located at 1900 NE Division Street in Bend.
His first CD, Acoustic Jazz Guitar Solos, garnered national press and received airplay on many stations around the United States, including several full hour “on-airs”. Music from the CD was also used on Public Radio International. The CD was nationally distributed by Redeye USA, where it sat in the top five of their best-selling jazz chart for months. Eric received an endorsement for the Elixir string company. For Lulu picks up where Acoustic Jazz Guitar Solos left off, further expanding the adventurous improvisations, simultaneous bass lines, and creative arrangements, while digging deeper still into blues and funk, and perhaps further blurring the lines between a jazz guitarist playing acoustically, and an acoustic artist playing jazz.
