Two Suspects Nabbed for Redmond Bank Robbery

Third suspect and vehicle still sought.

A Eugene man and woman were arrested late last night in connection with the bank robbery that occurred earlier in the day about 2 pm on July 13th. The Washington Mutual Bank at 568 SW 5th Street in Redmond was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are still looking for a 2002 silver Ford Escort 2-door passenger car with Oregon license plate ZBW010; and a white male, approximately 35-45 years of age, 6’4” tall, 150-160 pounds who may be associated with the vehicle. The public is urged to phone law enforcement if the subject or vehicle is spotted, and is warned to avoid any contact.

According to Capt. Alex Maich of the Redmond Police Department, Charles Wimer and Kasey Lynn Guthrie were apprehended with the assistance of Crook County Sheriffs Office near Lone Pine about midnight.

Both the 26 year old man and 35 year old woman were arrested and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail and will face charges of Robbery II, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery II, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

The bank robbers who fled the scene prior to Officers arriving did not display a weapon when robbing the bank, said Officer Brad McMurrian. A description of one vehicle was broadcasted to Law Enforcement, who a short time later found the auto but also found the suspects had abandoned it and fled in another vehicle.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone having information related to this incident is urged to contact the Redmond Police Department.
