SEATTLE - Andrew Bryant of Seattle, and long time Special Olympics Washington (SOWA) athlete, completed the 111th Boston Marathon today, turning in a time of 3:05:36. Andy placed 1372 overall in a field of 22,500 runners and finished 1303 for his gender and 953 in his division. The rain and wind gusts of up to 50 mph in downtown Boston did not deter the long distance runner from turning in a personal best performance, beating his qualifying time by a full 3 minutes.

As a SOWA athlete, Andy participates year-round in track and field, long distance running, softball and alpine skiing. "Andy is one of those athletes who is always training and preparing for competition," said John Borgognoni, SOWA Sports and Program Director. "We are so proud of his performance today. He sets an example for all who strive to be the best they can be."
