Two teenage boys, 14 and 15-year-old Bend residents, were arrested last evening following an investigation into a burglary at the home of Michael and Sue Eklund, parents of the 14-year-old snowboarder paralyzed April 1st while practicing for a snowboarding competition in Nevada.

Bend Police Lt. Ken Mannix said Zachary Stephen Cronen, 15, and Alexander Boyd Bjurling, 14, allegedly broke into the home at 60910 SW Tara Lane while the owners were out of town, and a friend house sitting was away for several hours.  Property was stolen, he said, and the house was ransacked.

Information and evidence obtained during the investigation led to the arrest of the two boys about 7 p.m., the lieutenant said.

The teens were lodged at the Deschutes County Juvenile Department, and are charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree theft.

Detectives are continuing the investigation, Mannix said.
