Victim’s recent death from 1983 fight ruled homicide

AUSTIN, Tex. - Almost 25-years after then 23-year old Russell Weatherford was injured in an altercation in northwest Austin, his recent death from injuries sustained in 1983 has been ruled a homicide.

On March 24, 1983, Austin Police patrol officers responded to a disturbance at 11807 Bell Avenue in Northwest Austin, authorities reported. 

According to a news release, he was transported to Brackenridge Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and died on April 5, 2007 as a result of an “altercation with another individual.”

As a result of an autopsy performed by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office, Weatherford’s death is being investigated as a murder by homicide detectives.
