BOSTON, Mass. – A 21-year old Dorchester man was arrested Monday night after leading police on a high speed chase when he failed to stop for a traffic violation, then claiming his gas pedal was stuck and he forgot he had marijuana in his sock.

Boston police officers from Roxbury District B-2 observed Andreas K. Brown, 21, traveling about 70 mph near Blue Hill Avenue and Stratton Street.

According to a news release, Brown initially slowed down when officers activated the patrol vehicle’s lights and sirens, but when they approached Brown sped off up Blue Hill Avenue.

The suspect’s vehicle finally stopped in front of 7 Vesta Road, police reported.

Brown said he didn’t stop because the gas pedal was stuck.   Brown was placed under arrest, and officers found a plastic bag of marijuana in his sock during a subsequent search.

According to the officers, Brown said “I forgot it [marijuana] was there!”

Brown was taken into custody and charged with failure to stop for police and possession of a Class D controlled substance.
