Oregon State Police troopers arrested a Corvallis man Friday for Criminally Negligent Homicide charges stemming from a March 2006 fatal motor vehicle crash on the Santiam Pass in which a Chinese national was killed. The accident also injured four others, including two Bend residents.

Troopers from the Oregon State Police Albany and University offices arrested Pengcheng Wu, a 34 year old Corvallis resident. Wu was lodged in the Linn County Jail on $25,000 bail.

Wu was the driver of a 1998 Chevrolet Prism that crossed the centerline on Santiam Pass on March 18^th, colliding with a GMC Yukon driven by Robert L. Morris. Morris, a 65 year old Bend man and his wife, Carol, both sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

The homicide charges stem from the death of one of the three passengers in Wu’s vehicle. Ju Feng, a 57-year-old Chinese national visiting the United States was deceased at the scene. Two other passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers from the Bend and Albany Patrol Offices of the Oregon State Police conducted the investigation and presented the information to a Linn County grand jury, which indicted WU on July 6, 2006.
