Home occupation ordinance hearing planned

On Thursday, April 26, 2007 the County will hold a Planning Commission Public Hearing to consider a proposal to make minor text changes clarifying the existing Home Occupation Ordinance Section 18.116.280.

The hearing will take place at 5:30 P.M. in the Barnes and Sawyer rooms of the Deschutes Services Center at 1300 NW Wall Street in Bend. Anyone interested in presenting their idea’s and/or opinion’s may attend or send their written testimony to the Deschutes County Community Development Department before the meeting on April 26.

The proposed amendment addresses the different types of home occupation permits. It proposes to clarify the existing language for the Home Occupation Code and the number of permitted vehicles and parking sites for employees and customers at a home occupation.

The amendment also proposes to alter the requirement for outdoor storage and service of vehicles and equipment at a home occupation site, and presents a proposed exception for disabled persons with home occupations.

The Community Development Department located at 117 NW Lafayette Avenue, will have copies of the proposed changes for citizens prior to the public hearing. Interested persons may also access the Deschutes County Web-site at www.deschutes.org for the current proposed changes to the Home Occupation Code.
