A 44-year old Milwaukie, Oregon man was killed Thursday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle while rounding a curve, crossed the highway and hit a rocky embankment on Highway 224 about ten miles west of Ripplebrook.  Oregon State Police (OSP) say that excessive speed may have contributed to the crash.

OSP troopers responded to the accident near milepost 40 on Highway 224 about 5:30 p.m., April 19, and were assisted at the scene by Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies and Medical Examiner, US Forest personnel, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Jeffrey A. Hyman of Milwaukie was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another motorcyclist, a friend of Hyman’s, witnessed the accident and said the victim’s helmet came off before Hyman struck some rocks.

Portland Area Command troopers are continuing the investigation.
