Preliminary investigation determined that Kevin Holmlund, 54, of southeast Portland had been traveling north when, for unknown reasons, he drove off the east side of the highway.  His 2002 Toyota Tundra pickup traveled down a 50-foot embankment and came to rest in a pasture.

According to an OSP news release, Holmlund was taken by ambulance to Mid Columbia Medical Center where he later died.

An investigation led by OSP The Dalles Area Command is continuing.
