Those interested in watching the award ceremony to see which of the 44 honorees are chosen as "2006 Teacher of the Year", and which 4 are selected as "Outstanding Teachers" can watch on a live webcast to be broadcast on August 1st at 7 pm PST at www.disneyteacherawards.com.
“I invite students, parents, teachers and community members to watch with us as we honor teachers who are making a difference in the lives of our nation’s children, and as one teacher is named by his or her peers the Teacher of the Year and a representative of all great teachers in the country,” said Terry Wick, vice president of Disney Worldwide Outreach.
Renz, with 26 years of experience as an educator, says “My classroom is a reflection of the talents my students bring to it. The environment and my creating teaching practices are designed to maximize the achievement of my students.”
Becki McKinney, the mother of one of Renz’s former students, agrees. “Heather’s students have been given such a wonderful gift. I am so very privileged to have had the opportunity to volunteer in Heather’s class and my children have been even more privileged to have had Heather as ‘the best teacher’ yet.”
