Redmond man arrested on 70 counts of child sex abuse

A 61-year old Redman man was arrested last week on dozens of charges related to sexual abuse of a child following an investigation and execution of a search warrant at two different locations, police announced yesterday.

Stan Leo Nielsen has since posted bond on $75,000 bail and was released from the Deschutes County Jail two days after he was taken into custody.

Redmond Police Captain Al Maich said an investigation led to the search of two Redmond locations about noon on last Wednesday, April 18 -- 2126 SW 29th Street and 1280 North Highway 97. 

Nielsen was subsequently arrested and charged with 70 crimes including 10 counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse, 10 counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse, 10 counts of first-degree sex abuse, 10 counts of second-degree sex abuse, and 30 counts of contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor.

Captain Maich declined to release any further details about the victim or victims, or disclose information regarding any evidence that may have been seized during the searches.  “I can tell you,” he said, “we’re not looking for any more victims,”
