BEND, Ore. - The public is invited to learn more about the City of Bend’s Central Area Plan Part 2. The City’s Long Range Planning Division is holding a Public Meeting on Thursday, May 17th at 5:30 p.m. at the Deschutes County Services Building located at 1300 NW Wall Street.
Maps and other planning materials will be on display to inform the community about the Central Area Plan process. The public is encouraged to attend and provide input to the City. The community’s comments and ideas will assist Long Range Planning staff in their final preparation of the Central Area Plan.
The Central Area Plan Part 2 is creating a long-term plan for Bend's central area. This will include a land use and transportation plan for the study area, along with a set of proposed General Plan map and text amendments, Transportation System Plan amendments and amendments to the Bend Development Code.
The study area encompasses the historic core of Downtown Bend and adjacent neighborhoods to the north and south, as well as the central segment of the 3rd St. corridor running from Butler Market Rd. to the railroad underpass.
The City will present preliminary findings to the citizens of Bend and facilitate their input on key points that will be included in the Central Area Plan. This workshop will include highlights of all of the key plan areas: urban design, transportation, infrastructure, redevelopment, community cohesiveness and preservation, and land use. Participants will be apprised of the vision, goals and evolution of the plan, how previous recommendations were made, and how comments received during the process were addressed. Please come and tell us what you think!
This public meeting is the second in several opportunities for the community to review the draft plan components and to provide input. The first public meeting was held in January 2007. The third public meeting will be held in August 2007.
