Cleanup of remainder of site expected to be completed by end of May 2007 The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has determined that no further cleanup action is required in Area 4 North, a portion of the former Bend Trap Club site at 61400 Brosterhous Road in Since November 2005, DEQ has provided oversight under a Voluntary Cleanup Agreement to investigate cleanup of the approximately 40-acre property slated to be redeveloped for residential uses. Investigation and cleanup of the Area 4 North portion of the site, the area least impacted from shooting activities, have now been completed. The primary contaminant of concern at Area 4 North was limited to lead. A Record of Decision (ROD) for the Bend Trap Club site was approved by DEQ in August 2006 for the cleanup of shallow soil containing lead from lead shot and polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), primarily from clay pigeon fragments (CPF). A Remedial Action completed in September 2006 removed all the lead from the Area 4 North portion. Subsequent sampling of the Area 4 North property indicates that it meets DEQ’s residential human health and ecological risk based cleanup goals. Cleanup of the rest of the site is anticipated to be completed by the end of May 2007, followed by a public comment period. Project documents are available for review at DEQ’s Questions or concerns regarding DEQ’s d
