JUNEAU, Alaska - Passengers on the Empress of the North evacuated the vessel Monday after the cruise ship ran aground off the Alaskan coast, a report said.
U.S. Coast Guard officials said the cruise ship ran aground near the state's eastern peninsula Monday, forcing its 281 passengers to leave the ship on emergency lifeboats, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
None of the maritime vessel's passengers reported suffering any injuries in the incident.
A Coast Guard spokesman said the ship also did not appear to be sinking after the impact, but was tilting six degrees to one side.
The CBC said that Coast Guard officers were sent to the ship, that is operated by Seattle's Majestic America Line, in response to a distress call it sent out following the crash.
