Bomb threat prompts evacuation of Redmond school

A bomb threat indicating a detonation at 1:20 p.m. today found written on the wall in the boy’s bathroom at Elton Gregory Middle School in Redmond, Oregon prompted an immediate evacuation and search of the premises, police reported.

 
A bomb threat, apparently unfounded, prompted an evacuation of Elton Gregory Middle School in Redmond this afternoon.  The school, with grades 6-8, has approximately 700 students. 
Redmond Police responded to the school at
1220 NW Upas on May 15 after the note was found, and following emergency protocol evacuated students immediately.  Police searched the school, but were unable to locate any explosive devices or suspicious items, Captain Al Maich and Officer Tyler Kirk wrote in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing, Maich said.  “The individual or individuals responsible for the note have not been identified, and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Redmond Police Department at 541.504.3400 or dispatch at 541.693.6911.”
