A motorcyclist who was blinded by the sun as he crested a hill on SW Shumway Road in Powell Butte, Oregon early this morning was injured after he lost control and crashed, deputies reported.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. May 16, Crook County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a single motorcycle crash on SW Shumway Road near SW Alfalfa Road, Detective Sergeant Travis Jurgens said.

They found the motorcycle operator Darold Rose, 49, sitting on the ground.  Crook County Sheriff’s Office administration did not have Rose’s hometown readily available, but telephone records provide a Bend, Oregon address.

Rose told deputies he was riding his BMW motorcycle east on Shumway Road when the sun blinded him as he crested a hill.  His bike veered into loose gravel, lost control, and crashed.

Emergency responders with Redmond Fire & Rescue transported Rose to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with unknown injuries, the sergeant reported.

According to Jurgens, no further investigation is needed.
