In the May 15 Special Election, incumbent Jim Erickson and first-time candidate Paul Rodby were elected to the Redmond School District’s Board of Directors.

Erickson, who was employed with the school district for over 30 years, has been recognized as a dedicated and effective educator.  Although retired from the district, his desire is to continue contributing to the growth and development of the students.  He believes his experience as a teacher gives him a solid understanding of what makes education - both in and out of the classroom - work.

“Service to the growth of kids has always been my core value,” states Erickson. “There are many challenges ahead for the district and I feel it is important that the community and staff work together to ensure the success of our students.”

Rodby, who currently has three students in the school system, is owner of several McDonald’s locations in Central Oregon.  He is a strong supporter of education and has served on the district’s Educational Foundation and Budget Committee.  Rodby is also closely involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Central Oregon and an advocate for the Ronald McDonald House and other nonprofit organizations.   He feels that his strong background in finance, leadership and business will help guide the district in making decisions that continue to ensure student success.

Both Erickson and Rodby will begin their four-year terms in July and will take their Oath of Office at the July 11 school board meeting.
