Murder-suicide hasn't been ruled out, police say
A neighbor who was investigating the sound of gunshots found a 73-year old La Pine-area man dead in the driveway of his mobile home late Tuesday afternoon, and police later discovered a woman and dog, also dead of gunshots inside the single-wide trailer.
Oregon State Police (OSP) are investigation the deaths, and haven’t ruled out that it may be a murder-suicide. A firearm was found next to the deceased man, identified as Robert Warnke Sr.
Troopers responded to the residential property at 146514 Bills Road near Gilchrist, about six miles south of La Pine in Klamath County, shortly after 5 p.m., May 22. They were asked to assist a Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was investigating the 911 call made by the neighbor after the man heard the gunshot and discovered Warnke dead in the driveway.
Troopers and the deputy performed a welfare check inside the trailer and discovered that 51-year old Sue Ann Glaspey-Warnke and a dog were deceased, both of gunshots. Law enforcement remained on site processing the scene throughout the night and into Wednesday.
No witnesses have been found, and detectives have yet to positively determine if the firearm found next to the dead man is related to the deaths.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact OSP Detective Dennis Yaws at 541.883.5713, ext. 321.
