A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when he drove into the path of a pickup loaded with firewood in Prineville, police reported.

The unidentified driver apparently pulled into the path of the pickup as he entered S. Main Street from the entrance to Les Schwab Fields about 1:40 p.m., May 26, Chief Eric Bush said.

The teen was transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital with reportedly serious injuries.

The investigation is continuing, Bush said, adding that neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be contributing factors to the accident.
