Two Bend men were arrested Saturday evening for allegedly kicking down the door to a NE Bend apartment and causing hundreds of dollars in damage to the walls, floor, and door, police reported.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on June 2, Bend Police officers responded to a unit in Healy Heights Apartments at 1900 NE Bear Creek Road to a report of a burglary in progress, Lt. Gary Mack wrote in a news release.

Witnesses told police that two male suspects fled the scene and went into another apartment within the same complex.

Officers contacted two men inside the nearby apartment, and arrested Jesse Ray Morton, 25, and Brandon Pinola, 21.  According to the lieutenant, Pinola resides in the nearby Healy Heights apartment where the two suspects were contacted.

The occupant of the apartment that was burglarized, Maggie Wells, was not home at the time of the intrusion, Mack said.

Morton and Pinola were lodged in the Deschutes County Jail, and are charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.
