WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- A Connecticut teenager was in protective custody Wednesday night after she was found alive nearly a year after being reported missing.
Police in West Hartford came upon 15-year-old Daniella Cramer of Bloomfield who disappeared June 16, 2006, while they executed a search warrant in connection with the case, the West Hartford News reported.
The girl was found in a small room under a staircase. Initial indications were she was in good health.
"Our officers had enough initiative to move a dresser that was piled with items and found a small door with a slide lock," said West Hartford Police Chief James Strillacci.
"There was a young lady in the room sitting on the floor. I don't think there were any outward signs of trauma but she was pale and thin."
Police arrested the owners of the home -- Adam Gault, 41, and Ann Murphy, 40, who were described by The Hartford Courant as acquaintances of the missing girl's father.
Police said they were at the home to collect DNA and other evidence.
The couple was jailed and will appear in a Hartford court Thursday.
