A 66-year old bicyclist was hit and killed by a vehicle that struck one of five riders in Washington County, Oregon on Saturday afternoon, deputies reported.  The driver was cited for careless driving, passing in a “no passing” zone, and driving with a suspended license.

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the crash on NW Cornelius-Schefflin Road near NW Long Road about 12:15 p.m., June 9.  According to a news release, the group of five bicyclists were riding south on Cornelius-Schefflin, preparing to turn east on NW Long Road.

As the second rider signaled for the turn, a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by 26-year old Jennifer Knight of Hayden, Idaho, began to pass the group and struck the bicycle while it was still in its lane of traffic.

66-year old Timothy O’Donnell of Aloha, Oregon, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies reported.
