ORLANDO, Fla. - A New England couple escaped serious injury after reportedly being kidnapped, beaten and robbed by gunmen who grabbed them in a parking lot near Disney World.

Justin Stetzer and Jessica DellaCamera, both 20 and from North Branford, Conn., wound up wrestling with the suspects near a landfill where they feared they were about to be executed.

"They just thought they were at the end of the road," Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons told the Orlando Sentinel.

The frightening attack was the latest incident in a recent series of crimes in Orlando's tourist district, which includes the landmark Disney theme park.

The Sentinel said the couple was on the first day of their Disney World vacation when they were approached in a Downtown Disney parking lot by three men who forced them into their car and sped off.

After being forced to take money out of an ATM, the couple were driven to an isolated spot near a dump in Osceola County where they were beaten. The couple fought back, however, and the assailants fled when the gun went off during the struggle.
