Police have arrested the man they suspect in the vicious attempted axe murder of a Clackamas man last Wednesday.
Geovany Mendoza Saucedo, 23, was arrested Friday in Yakima, Washington and is being held without bail on an attempted murder warrant out of Clackamas County. Detectives investigating the case report Saucedo has a drug history with misdemeanor offenses.
Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies had responded to the tavern about 2:30 a.m. in response to a report of a fight between two Hispanic males. Witnesses said the victim of the axe attack had intervened in the physical altercation, and that one of the two men involved in the fight followed Burns as he walked away from the tavern and attacked him. Police report that Burns received severe head wounds that were described as devastating, and that he will likely face numerous surgeries. He remains hospitalized.
