The Central Oregon Multi Agency Traffic Team (MAT) will be out in force tomorrow, patrolling along stretches of Highway 97 and Highway 126 within the city limits of Redmond.

According to Bend Police Sgt. Ron Taylor, officers with Bend and Redmond Police, Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies, and Oregon State Police troopers will be looking for various traffic violations including speeding, disobeying traffic control devices, following too closely, and failing to maintain a safe distance from emergency vehicles.

The MAT team saturated enforcement will run roughly from noon to 5 p.m., Taylor said.

The MAT Team was created to increase public awareness about the hazards of aggressive driving, and the dangers associated with violations of traffic laws related to public safety. “The traffic violations specifically being targeted are directly related to the increasing numbers of motor vehicle crashes involving injuries and fatalities,” said the sergeant.
