PITTSBURGH - Five children from two families died early Tuesday in a house fire in Pittsburgh.
Investigators were seeking a teenager who was reportedly babysitting the children, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The girl disappeared and her boyfriend, who may also have been in the house at the time of the fire, was also missing.
The dead children were between the ages of 3 and 7. Two children, both 8, were rescued from the house and were being treated for injuries.
Police said that one mother, Furrah Love of Wilkinsburg, dropped her four children at the house Monday evening. The mother of the other children, who lives there and hadn't been identified, was at work overnight, leaving her children and Love's with the babysitter, the Post-Gazette said.
Firefighters said that all three floors of the house were burning when they arrived, The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported. The children were found in one room on the second floor.
