Search continues for missing boy, 7

The search continues this morning for a seven-year-old boy who went missing last evening while riding a red motorcycle with his family about a mile from their campground at the Camp-II Off Highway Vehicle riding area near China Hat Road, about 25 miles east of Bend.

Chase Otterbach, 7, was last seen about 8:30 p.m. riding his red Honda 70-cc motorcycle. He is described as 3-feet 6-inches tall, weighing 69 pounds with a slender build.  The brown-haired child was wearing a black tee-shirt, black pants and a red helmet.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Search and Rescue team responded to the area about 10 p.m. on Tuesday and searched throughout the night, Sgt. Scott Beard reported in a news release.

The search effort will be joined this morning by search and rescue teams from Klamath, Crook and Jefferson Counties, in addition to Civil Air Patrol and the Army Air Guard, Beard said.
