Residents within a 400-foot radius of a natural gas line that was accidentally ruptured by construction workers in southwest Redmond Saturday morning were evacuated for about four hours while repairs were made, police reported.

Redmond Police Officer Jonny Dickson said the rupture at the intersection of SW 27th Street and SW Wickiup Avenue was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m., June 16.  Police and fire units responded to the area, and the residents were evacuated.

A crew from Cascade Natural Gas brought the ruptured four-inch line under control, and residents were allowed back in their homes about four hours later, Dickson said.

No injuries were reported.
