Trial Begins in 2005 Bend Murder Case

Jurors were selected Tuesday in the murder trial of Zellnar Franklin Hicks, 65, who allegedly shot and stabbed his stepdaughter, and shot his wife twice in the chest during a domestic dispute in August 2005.
Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Hicks at his home on Cougar Trail in Bend following a violent domestic disturbance call. Lindlief was pronounced dead at the scene and Hicks was transported by AirLife to St. Charles Medical Center in critical condition. She later recovered from her injuries and filed for divorce. Hicks is being held at the Deschutes County jail without bond. The trial is expected to conclude Friday.
