Hicks is charged with murdering his stepdaughter, 49-year-old Sharon Lindlief.  He is also charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault of his wife, Donna Hicks, 80, and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the incident.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Hicks at his home on Cougar Trail in Bend following a violent domestic disturbance call.  Lindlief was pronounced dead at the scene and Hicks was transported by AirLife to St. Charles Medical Center in critical condition.  She later recovered from her injuries and filed for divorce.

Hicks is being held at the Deschutes County jail without bond.  The trial is expected to conclude Friday.
