A Lincoln City man was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon with unknown injuries following a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 20 north of Tumalo, and his one-year-old puppy remains at large after fleeing the scene, deputies reported.

Scott Wesley Garred, 51, was extricated and treated on scene by Coverdale Fire paramedics prior to being transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Deputy Aaron Harding and Sgt. Scott Beard wrote in a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Garred apparently lost control of his 1996 Dodge Caravan about 3 p.m., June 25.  The vehicle left the north side of Highway 20 near Peterson Ridge Road, crossed back over the highway and rolled, coming to rest upside down.

Witnesses reported that a black Labrador-Border Collie mix dog got out of the van and ran away in a westerly direction.  Anyone who has information about the one-year-old puppy is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office.  The animal weights between 20 and 30 pounds, and was wearing a silver choker and black leather collar.

Garred was cited for failing to wear a seatbelt, the deputies reported.
