FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - Investigators in Georgia said Tuesday pro wrestler Chris Benoit -- the Canadian Crippler -- killed his wife and 7-year-old son before hanging himself. Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said the bodies were discovered Monday afternoon at the family's house in Fayetteville, The New York Times reported. Police had been asked by Benoit's employer, World Wrestling Entertainment, Ga., to check on the family. It appeared the killings occurred hours apart during the weekend. Nancy Benoit, 43, was found in an upstairs family room with her feet and hands bound, Daniel Benoit, 7, was found in his bed. Both had been asphyxiated, autopsies showed. Benoit used a cable from a weight machine in his home gym to take his life, the newspaper said. No note was found at the scene, but a Bible had been placed next to each victim. copyright © 2007, by United Press International. All Rights Reserved. |
