Homeowners were awakened early Monday morning by a smoke detector and were able to quickly escape a fire that caused over $1.6 million in damage to their northwest Bend home, fire officials said. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but built-in natural gas appliances located on the exterior deck of the home will be further examined as a possible source.
The home was valued at $1,400,000 and contents at $1,500,000. Vehicles on the premises were valued at $90,000. Losses were estimated at $900,000 to the structure, $700,000 to the contents, and $15,000 to automobiles. Homeowner Robert Dutcher was insured, added Battalion Chief Dave Howe. |
