A 20-year old man who tired and sank under the surface of the Molalla River as he tried to swim across was rescued by a family member and two Good Samaritans who pulled him to shore and began live-saving efforts, deputies reported.
Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a drowning at the Wagon Wheel Park in Mulino, a town about 25 miles south of Portland, about 7 p.m. Friday. According to a news release, the unidentified Hispanic man was brought to shore where the rescuers performed CPR with instructions provided to them by the 911 dispatcher.
Soon after, emergency service personnel arrived and took over, continuing life-saving efforts until a helicopter ambulance from LifeFlight arrived and flew the victim to Emanuel Hospital.
Deputies reported that the man was in stable but serious condition in the intensive care unit.
