BRISBANE, Australia - Police in Brisbane, Australia, have been given another 48 hours to hold an Indian doctor suspected of plotting terror attacks in Britain.
A magistrate granted the so-called dead-time to Australian Federal Police to review their evidence, although 27-year-old Mohammed Haneef cannot be questioned during that time, the Australian Broadcasting Corp., reported.
Police had requested a five-day detention extension but the magistrate ordered the matter back to a closed hearing on Wednesday morning.
Haneef was arrested a week ago trying to board a flight to India with a one-way ticket after authorities were tipped by British security forces, the BBC said.
He is related to two of the six people being held in Britain for the attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow at the end of last month.
The report said police searched Haneef's home in Queensland's Gold Coast a second time on Sunday but no details were released about findings.
