Redmond Police investigators now believe that a 12-year-old Redmond boy is responsible for shooting his 13-year-old brother in the head last month, and charges have been filed against him.

The Deschutes County Juvenile District Attorney has charged Jimmy Cade with third-degree assault.  The child will be required to appear in juvenile court at a later date, Lt. Wayne Shortreed said.

Caleb Cade was shot on June 23 in the family’s home at 3224 SW Newberry Avenue in Redmond.  Caleb was stabilized by Redmond Fire & Rescue paramedics and flown by LifeFlight air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.  He was admitted placed in the intensive care unit, and according to family members has shown significant improvement and continues to make progress in his recovery.
