The driver and passenger of a Harley Davidson motorcycle that crashed on Highway 31 south of La Pine on Sunday afternoon were both transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, deputies reported.

Gerald Kersey, Jr. 53, and Kathryn Kersey, 53, both of Oregon City, Oregon, were traveling east on Highway 31 near milepost 1 when their 2003 Harley Davidson drifted off the north shoulder of the highway, lost control in the cinder covered shoulder, rolled, and ejected both persons, Sgt. Joe DeLuca said.

AirLife helicopter transport was originally dispatched about 3:30 p.m., but was later cancelled.  The Kerseys were transported by ground ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center.

Highway 31 was closed for about 15 minutes while La Pine Fire & Rescue personnel rendered aid, DeLuca said.

“Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in this crash,” DeLuca stated, adding that the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
