The Latino Community Association will host a free Workers Rights Forum and Fiesta de Independencia from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, September 16, at Bend's Community Center, 1036 NE Fifth Street in Bend, behind the Humane Society thrift store on Greenwood Avenue.

The family-friendly fiesta--music, dancing, and food--will start at 8 p.m., immediately following a 5:30 p.m. forum that will provide Latino residents important information about immigration law, workers compensation, prevailing wage laws, benefits, construction trades unions, and employee rights in the workplace.

Representatives from Oregon's Workers Compensation Division and Bureau of Labor and Industries, and from CAUSA, Oregon's Immigrant Rights Coalition, and the Central Oregon Building Trades Council will be on hand to answer questions about workers' rights.

The fiesta and forum will be in Spanish, with English translation. They are accessible. Sign language interpretation and assistive listening services are available by call 541-385-3320.

The September 16 fiesta and forum are sponsored by the Latino Community Association (formerly El Programa de Ayuda), Human Dignity Coalition, Central Oregon Jobs with Justice, Bend Community Center, Central Oregon Labor Council, CAUSA, OSEA, and La Bronca 1240 AM.
