Crook County Sheriff’s deputies obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s home at 1525 SE Lynn Boulevard in Prineville after they received a report from Kathryn Shehal, 47, of Narragasette, Rhode Island.

About 7:25 p.m., July 27, deputies searched the home of Karen Knudtson, 53, and seized items totaling around $3,000 plus documents, Sgt. Russ Wright said.  Deputies also recovered computer items which were allegedly used to produce documents for identity theft.

According to the sergeant, items were purchased from online retail stores and shipped to Knudtson’s address.  She was taken into custody and lodged in the Crook County Jail in lieu of $32,500 bond.  Knudtson is charged with identity theft and second-degree theft.

The investigation is continuing, Sgt. Wright said.
