A 53-year old Prineville woman was arrested Thursday evening in connection with the theft of items purchased over the Internet, allegedly paid for with the stolen identity of a Rhode Island woman and shipped to the suspect’s home, deputies reported.
About 7:25 p.m., July 27, deputies searched the home of Karen Knudtson, 53, and seized items totaling around $3,000 plus documents, Sgt. Russ Wright said. Deputies also recovered computer items which were allegedly used to produce documents for identity theft.
According to the sergeant, items were purchased from online retail stores and shipped to Knudtson’s address. She was taken into custody and lodged in the Crook County Jail in lieu of $32,500 bond. Knudtson is charged with identity theft and second-degree theft. The investigation is continuing, Sgt. Wright said.
