Albany man, 70, arrested for sexually abusing teen

Albany Police arrested on Tuesday a 70-year old registered sex offender in connection with the sexual abuse of a family friend that allegedly took place five years ago when the victim was 13.

Leo James Christian, 70, was lodged in the Linn County Jail and is charged with five counts of first-degree sex abuse and a single count of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, a news release stated.

Police said the investigation began in June of this year when the alleged victim, now 18, reported the abuse occurred over a weekend when she visited the suspect at his home. “Leo Christian has engaged in a nearly 20-year pattern of sexually abusive behavior towards teenage females,” the news release said.
