Ten law enforcement officers from four different agencies concentrated their efforts on the Bend Parkway for five hours on Wednesday and wrote over 71 tickets, arrested two people, and impounded four vehicles.

Bend Police Sgt. Kurt Koester said that Oregon State Police troopers, Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies, and officers from Bend and Redmond Police participated in the latest MAT (Multi-Agency Traffic) team effort from noon to 5 p.m.

According to a news release, 39 warnings and 71 citations, were issued – several for speeding violations at more than 35 mph over the limit.

Of the two arrests, one was for providing false information to an officer, and the other for having stolen license plates, Koester reported.

The four vehicles impounded were due to being uninsured, or having unlicensed drivers.

“Speed is a major contributing factor to accidents causing many injuries, fatalities, and expensive property damage,” the sergeant said.
