Suspect allegedly attacks mother
A man who allegedly tried to attack his mother with a knife at a home north of Redmond Tuesday afternoon was arrested by Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies on several charges, authorities reported.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at 6666 northwest Lynch Lane about 4:30 p.m. September 19 in response to a 911 call made by the victim’s husband. The caller reported his step-son, David Sloan Overcash, 43, was trying to attack his wife with a knife, said Lt. Erik Utter.
Deputies took a position near the rear of the home and were monitoring the man when he began to move towards them, said the lieutenant. "They engaged the suspect at this time and he was taken into custody without further incident," he added.
Overcash was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail in Bend on two counts each of coercion (a Class C felony), menacing and fourth-degree assault (each Class A misdemeanors). Bail was set at $20,000.
