NEW YORK -- A reputed Taliban sympathizer from Seattle faces 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of providing material support for terrorists.
Earnest James Ujaama, 41, pleaded guilty in New York Monday under the agreement to three charges of providing material support for terrorists and will be sentenced Dec. 12.
Ujaama admitted to taking part in a 1999 plan to establish a terrorist training camp in rural Oregon.
Ujaama had earlier agreed to cooperated with U.S. authorities in exchange for having two terrorism counts dropped but he then fled to Belize to avoid testifying against his alleged co-conspirators.
The Seattle Times said federal prosecutors declined comment on the case. The plea agreement remains under seal.
