Albany Police detectives took a 28-year old Albany man into custody at a Portland hospital Saturday afternoon where he has been recovering since allegedly shooting his 58-year old lover and himself in the head earlier this month. The woman died from her injuries.
According to a news release, Joel Jensen and Deborah Davis were involved in an intimate relationship from the fall of 2006 until Davis ended it several weeks prior to the shooting. On August 7, Jensen went to Davis’ residence at 2910 NW Miller Lane and argued with his former lover outside the home. He allegedly entered the home and assaulted Tim Hardin, the 56-year old husband of Davis, with a handgun. Hardin fled the house and phoned police from a neighbor’s home.
When police arrived on scene shortly after 10:30 p.m., they found both Jensen and Davis shot in the head. Davis was transported to Samaritan Albany General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Jensen was transported to the same hospital, then was later transferred to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland where he remained until his arrest on Saturday.
He is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree assault, and four counts of first-degree burglary, the news release said.
