Bend police on Monday captured Chad Lee Edwards, an escaped inmate from the Warner Creek Correctional Facility, after he was found in Juniper Park near the swimming pool.

According to the Oregon Department of Corrections, 18-year-old Edwards was serving 13 months for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a sentence running concurrently with a 14 month sentence for driving with a suspended/revoked license.

He escaped from the minimum-security facility in Lakeview on Friday, authorities reported.  Warner Creek Correctional Facility houses minimum-custody inmates with less than three years remaining on their sentences, and has a single perimeter fence topped with concertina wire.

About 3:15 p.m., Edwards was taken into custody without incident on an arrest warrant charging him with escape, a Bend Police news release stated.
