Prison escapee apprehended in Redmond

A fugitive who escaped from state prison was apprehended in Redmond, Oregon on Saturday afternoon after a storeowner called 911 to report a
Redmond Police officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of SW Odem Medo about 5:35 p.m. and discovered John Jay Johnson, a 55-year old transient and escapee from the Powder River Correctional Facility, Captain Brian McNaughton said.
Johnson was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail in Bend, the captain reported.
