At 3:11 pm on October 1, 2023, multiple callers reported a fire at one of the carts located in The Bite food cart lot, 19860 7th Street in Tumalo. While enroute, a significant column of smoke was observed and the incident was upgraded to a structure fire response. On arrival, a working fire was found at the Rogue Chef cart, with flames through the roof. UPDATE: Suspect Arraigned in the Murder of Erika Evans (Photo)
A suspect has been arraigned on charges including domestic violence murder in the homicide of Erika Caroline Walker Evans in September of 2022.
After investigation, Homicide Unit detectives identified a suspect, Jake Phillips, 38. Phillips was in Washington County Jail since an October 2022 arrest on a felony warrant from an unrelated Washington County case. He has remained in custody there since.
In February 2023, the case was presented to a Grand Jury by the Multnomah County District Attor

A recent retail theft mission involving East Precinct resulted in 22 arrests, the recovery of thousands of dollars in merchandise, illegally possessed firearms, and three stolen vehicles.
On Monday, September 25, 2023, the Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct, in conjunction with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office’s Retail Theft Task Force, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, and Multnomah County Parole and Probation, conducted a Retail Theft & Criminal Interdiction mission.

PPB Investigating Numerous Overdoses Involving Juveniles
The Portland Police Bureau wants to warn the community about a concerning number of juvenile overdoses in recent months. PPB’s Narcotics and Organized Crime (NOC) Unit is investigating all of the cases.
Since mid-June, 10 juveniles have overdosed. Fentanyl is suspected in all but one of the cases. The victims are between the ages of one and 17. Five of the children died.

Homicide Investigation Underway in the Hosford-Abernethy Neighborhood
A homicide investigation is underway in the Hosford-Abernethy Neighborhood.
On Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 4:24a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a report of an assault in the 2400 block of Southeast 26th Avenue. When they arrived they located a victim, believed to be an adult male, deceased at the scene. The suspect or suspects left the scene before police arrived and no immediate arrests were made.
The Portland Police Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to investigate.

Shortly after 7:00 PM tonight, Bend Fire and Rescue responded to a report of smoke in the KTVZ news building located at 62990 OB Riley road.The building was occupied at the time. Staff called 911 and evacuated the building.Fire crews searched the interior and roof for the source and found a fire in an interior office. The fire was extinguished and building ventilated. Damage is estimated at $50000 in contents and $10000.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, members of East Precinct conducted a Stolen Vehicle Operation (SVO) in and around Portland International Airport. As part of an ongoing effort to partner with other agencies, PPB members teamed up with Port of Portland Police, Gresham Police, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, and Multnomah County Parole and Probation.
