Explore the art of kiln-formed glass in this inspiring two-day workshop with artist Crystal Schenk. Participants will learn to capture the intricate details of natural objects—like leaves and feathers—by creating one-of-a-kind glass impressions that reflect the beauty of the natural world.
Workshop Highlights:
Day 1: Introduction & Collection
Crystal will begin with an introduction to glass-making techniques, featuring live demonstrations and examples to inspire the works. Afterward, participants will take a reflective walk around the scenic Pine Meadow Ranch grounds to gather natural items to incorporate into their designs. Attendees will press these found objects into clay to create unique molds, forming the foundation for their glass artwork.
Day 2: Glass Casting & Design
Learn methods for layering glass, using frit for colorful details, and incorporating fossil vitra to add texture and depth. By the end of the day, participants will finalize their glass design, which will be kiln-fired overnight. Participants can choose to pick up their finished piece or have it shipped if they’re from out of town.
Attendees will leave with a beautiful glass artwork, perfect for display as a wall hanging or decorative plate.
